The achievement of the goals and objectives of the Foundation can be measured by accomplishing certain benchmarks. By establishing the International College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, the initial benchmark of forming a veterinary college has already been achieved in Gujarat. This state has one of India’s more advanced dairy programs. Economically, industrially, and socially, Gujarat is one of the most well-developed states of India. With a veterinary college located here, students will have a distinct advantage in learning about the best in animal husbandry and dairy sectors in India, while being trained for a veterinarian profession. The college has also been granted provisional affiliation with SKD Agricultural University. The Veterinary College of Gujarat will start operating in August 2008, academic session 2008-2009.

Along with the college, an all-species animal hospital and associated shelter will open sometime by the end of 2008. This facility will provide veterinary extension services free-of-cost to nearby villages, aiding more than 50,000 cattle within a 25 to 35 kilometer radius of the college. A conference & training center is planned for 2009. The college’s clinical research facilities are planned to start operating in 2010. The research facilities will help develop economical means to prevent and treat local cattle diseases, including mass vaccination programs and nutritional health improvement programs for rural livestock. These actions should have a major positive impact on the livelihoods of impoverished rural Indian families. As the colleges become more established, many more animal and human healthcare programs will be promoted by the Foundation for the good of rural Indian families.

Orissa historically has been one of the least developed states of India. With only one veterinary college in the entire state, it is highly deficient in terms of available trained veterinarians. The Foundation’s plan to open a veterinary college has been approved by the state government of Orissa. The state of Orissa is helping the Foundation in acquiring land for construction of a new veterinary college near the capital city of Bhubaneswar. This new college will have a major impact, as livestock and aquaculture in Orissa are particularly important. Eighty percent of rural households in Orissa own livestock, yet the veterinary infrastructure in the state is very poor. Therefore, we believe this college will have the potential for tremendous positive impact.
