The SR Foundation for Education and Research will implement these activities in India by establishing (i) veterinary colleges, (ii) large and small animal hospitals & shelters, (iii) large and small animal clinics & farms, and (iv), conference & training centers. The animal hospitals, shelters, and clinics will be affiliated with the colleges. They will all provide a venue for college students to gain hands-on training in livestock management/disease prevention as well as research opportunities in veterinary medicine and sciences.


The SR Foundation of Education and Research will have the following objectives:

  • Establish facilities for veterinary education and research in India that meets current national/international standards.

  • Develop graduates who will acquire both theoretical and practical training in veterinary science and medicine through a balanced academic curriculum based on national/international guidelines.

  • Develop an international faculty/student exchange program for sharing and transferring current practices in veterinary sciences and medicine.

  • Provide education/training to students, professionals, and livestock owners to:
    • Improve the health and productivity of animals in farm sectors and rural households.
    • Improve breeding procedures.
    • Improve the livelihoods of rural families in India who are totally dependent on land-scarce farm animals.

  • Implement, through animal hospitals and shelters, programs for the prevention and management of major diseases in animals by means of proper vaccination, nutrition, and monitoring.

  • Vaccination and care of loose/stray dogs in cities using an ID monitoring system

  • Care of loose/stray large animals (cattle) through an ID monitoring system and animal shelters.

  • Establish, through the animal clinics, research programs in following areas:
    • Dairy
    • Poultry
    • Swine
    • Aquaculture
    • Canine/feline/equine

  • Educate students, professionals, and concerned public on (i) how to prevent cruelty to animals, and (ii) how to improve survival of animals during natural calamities like drought and flood.

  • Establish veterinary programs that address food safety for agriculture/dairy products in India and the world.

  • Promote educational programs for global food safety.

  • Establish programs that will ensure food safety of animal products exported from India to the US, Europe, and other countries.
